The full version of this moving Plywood Pictures documentary on Makoto Fujimura's career will ONLY be available by purchase of the monograph, "Golden Sea."
Pre-purchase now Makoto Fujimura's first retrospective monograph entitled Golden Sea for $95. Please note that this is an advance purchase and no copies will be shipped until June of 2013.
This retrospective monograph and mini documentary will provide a look back on my career, following my journey with Nihonga, Contemporary Art, while always wrestling with the issues of art, faith and humanity. The monograph will include major works from my early days as a graduate student in Tokyo to my most recent work Golden Sea. It will be designed by Darilyn Carnes of Abrams Books, and published by Dillon Gallery Press to be used for future Makoto Fujimura retrospectives.
The monograph will feature essays by Robert Kushner, Dan Siedell, Valerie Dillon, Kei Tatejima, Nick Wolterstorff, Roberta Ahmanson and others. My second son, C.J., has composed several scores for this project and they will be used along side Susie Ibarra's generous contribution. Plywood Pictures documentaries will be included in the monograph as a DVD.
Portion of the sales of Golden Sea will benefit International Arts Movement and Fujimura Institute.
